Brian Whittle MSP is supporting Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s Tartan Tea Party, taking place across Scotland on the 21st of May.
The Tartan Tea Party aims to raise funds for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland to make a real difference to the 1 in 5 people in Scotland living with chest, heart, stroke conditions, and long covid through their Community Healthcare Support Service.
The Community Healthcare Support Service provides a range of services, including one-to-one support, stroke nurse guidance, peer support groups, and an advice line. It even provides support to physical activity groups, like the Killie Heartmates, who are a local rehabilitation and exercise group based in Kilmarnock.
On an average day in Scotland, 41 people have a stroke, 16 people will be diagnosed with heart failure and 32 people will have a heart attack. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland offers its help and support to them all. Between 2018 and 2023, CHSS supported over 600,000 people through their direct services and more than doubled the number of volunteers they have to 6,500.
South Scotland MSP Brian Whittle is joining people across the country in supporting the Tartan Tea Party initiative to help CHSS’s local groups reach more people across the country who need their help.
A local Tartan Tea Party is being held by the Killie Heartmates, who are supported by CHSS to deliver their exercise and rehabilitation classes, on 21st May at The Park Hotel, Kilmarnock from 1.00pm until 4.00pm.

“I’m delighted to support the Tartan Tea Party. Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s work makes a real difference to the lives of people living with chest, heart, stroke conditions, and long covid.
The need for this kind of support is only expected to grow in the coming years, and that’s why it’s so important that people support fundraising events like this one.
I’m delighted the Killie Heartmates are taking part this year and I’d encourage anyone with a bit of spare time on the 21st to head along to their tea party and support this brilliant group.
